Broken Light bulbs

Devotional by Melinda Priebe

Though I walk in the middle of trouble, you will revive me:
you shall stretch forth your hand against the wrath of my enemies,
and your right hand shall save me.
The LORD will perfect that which concerns me: your mercy,
O LORD, endure forever: forsake not the works of your own hands.
Psalm 138: 7-8 KJV

There once was an author who had an idea burning within their soul. This author continued to move forward with their idea only for rejection. Life’s circumstances, rejection and self-doubt crashed the idea into a million little pieces.

Whatever the reason, we cannot let the enemies of our mind, or negative, unhealthy criticism, stop us from God-given passion to author books, and that passion needs to keep burning.

Learn from your mistakes, seek advice from other writers, and join good Facebook groups for authors to keep trying. Thomas Edison once said:

“I never once failed at making a light bulb. I just found out ninety-nine ways not to make one.”
~Thomas A. Edison

A prayer for ones who have or know of someone experiencing disappointments or have shattered their ideas.

I thank God that He is there in the middle of all my troubles, and He inspires me to write ideas down. It hurts when those ideas fail, but you comfort me and have given me the strength and wisdom to carry on. Father God, I have also seen how you have even recovered broken glass from my past ideas and turned them into something that glorifies you. I pray God does the same for you. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

  1. I hope this devotional helped encourage someone.
Commenting mostly because my internet went down before I had a chance to send an updated profile.
I am redoing the books that I had published before. Two of them will be published again in three weeks. I will also have a new children’s book.
Check my website for more information.
    Praying for you all.
